Printed Pull Up Banners: A Great Portable Branding Solution
Lightweight Mobile Signage is Perfect for Conferences, Events and Promotions
There are reasons that pull up banners (also known as pop up banners) are still so popular today, decades after they first started doing the rounds at conferences, trade shows and other exhibition style events. They are lightweight enough for one person to transport and erect, need only floor space to display and are so easy to store. While they are just one of the vast range of options available to print using Southport Printing Co.’s wide format capabilities, they are by far one of the most popular.
It’s not just the exhibition and events industry who love pull up banners – you’ll often see them used to communicate promotions or strengthen brand messaging in and around businesses as well as when they’re at an event or away from their premises. Some people even use them to create a temporary backdrop for videography or photography.
Printed pull up banners are such a versatile and effective choice for mobile signs.

Pull Up Banner Design Tips
Southport Printing Co. offer full service design and print, but if you’d rather supply your own artwork for your printed pull up banner, here are a few points to keep in mind:
- Your logo should be at the top. Banners are tall (standard size is 2m high) but they can sometimes be obscured by crowds or other displays so you want to make sure the important information can still be seen. People read top to bottom, left to right so your design should follow these principles too.
- Less is more, even on a large print space. Don’t be tempted to put more information in just because you have a greater area to fill – you are better off using the space to lay out text and images in a way that is easy for people to read, even from a distance.
- Think evergreen – banners are affordable enough to have more than one, but marketing material can go out of date quickly if it has really specific detail like short term pricing or dates. There are ways to communicate your value and unique selling points in messaging that will last.
- Your images must be high resolution; while you can get away with lower quality photos and graphics on smaller print jobs, a large print space is not as forgiving. You can use stock photos, but if you want images of your own team, products or premises, it is worth the investment in a professional photo shoot before you have your banner designed.
- Showcase your brand. You need to think about your colours, fonts and all design elements as this may be the first (and potentially only) “vision” people see of your business.
