GSM is a common term in the printing industry, what does it mean?
When you are talking to your Sales Manager and requesting a printing quote, you may ask or be asked about GSM.
Simply put, GSM is an acronym that refers to the weight of paper when a square meter of paper is weighed. The acronym stands for Grams per Square Metre.
Some people believe that GSM is a guide to the thickness of the paper, but this is not true. There are many stocks classified as 150gsm – this simply means that these stocks weigh the same, but are likely to look and feel very different to each other, as well as having varied thicknesses.
If you are unsure of what stock you would like to use for your next print project, please contact one of our helpful sales team.
We would love to show you some paper options and help advise the best product for you.
