Ronald is the friendly face that mans the print finishing area on the floor at Southport Printing Co. He is a long-term, loyal employee and has been with the company for over 25 years. Ronald’s trade is in Letterpress, which is the old-school way of print finishing. This process uses led and pressure to apply various desired print finishes including embossing, debossing, die cutting and scoring. Flat printed jobs arrive to Ronald’s area from either the offset or digital presses for Ronald to add his magic touch and apply the preferred finish for the customer. At Southport Printing Co, we were so pleased to work with Celso & Tatiana from NTECH Mekanix at Miami on their recent outdoor signage overhaul. NTECH Mekanix have great pride in their workmanship, and wanted their long-time premises to reflect this with quality signage! The Background… NTECH Mekanix’s original signage looked tired, and some of the information on the signs was outdated. The original signs were gloss and these had faded over a long period of time. The Project…. NTECH Mekanix created a new logo and new artwork that had a modern, fresh look. Tatiana & Celso wanted the signage printed with a matt finish that reflected the brand. Based on this, Southport Printing Co. recommended finishing his new ACM signage with a matt UV laminate which would achieve this look and ensure longevity. As Jess is seated at the main entrance of Southport Printing Co., Jess’ face is also the first face that greets you when visit us. Jess has been in the print industry for over 20 years and has a wealth of knowledge in all areas of print. Jess started working for Andrew Kelly, one of the Southport Printing Co. directors, 22 years ago and has seen the industry change throughout the years. ‘I started in printing by chance as I took the job as an accounts trainee many, many years ago. The industry was much more involved than I could have imagined, and I enjoy the ongoing challenge of learning everything that there is to learn about printing’ said Jess. ‘It has been fantastic to be with Southport Printing Co. since the beginning, especially recent years, with the significant growth in the sign and display area.’ Jess’ role has evolved over the years and it is fair to say now that Jess has the most varied role in the business. Andy is a Graphic Artist & Prepress Operator at Southport Printing Co. Andy has been working with Southport Printing Co. since 2018 and has over 25 years industry experience. Andy enjoys applying his various design and prepress skills to the broad range of products and services that Southport Printing Co. has to offer. This includes creating all kinds of artwork for all kinds of clients! The variety of jobs that Andy works on each day is huge and ranges from every form of stationery that you can imagine, to books, booklets, folders, small signs, large signage, digital newsletters as well as anything and everything else in the print and design world! In his spare time, Andy enjoys travelling with the family both locally and internationally. He enjoys getting up early and exploring his surrounds as well as sketching and painting in his travel journal. Andy has fond memories of painting a picture of Mount Fuji behind Lake Kawaguchiko on a frosty morning. He distinctly remembers that the little droplets of watercolour froze on the palette. Andy has two teenage children, one at university and one at high school.

The team at Southport Printing Co. were proud to have taken part in the World’s Greatest Shave for the Leukaemia Foundation on Friday 12 March 2021! Eight brave team members had their heads shaved and raised nearly $4,000 for the foundation. The Leukaemia Foundation helps to give families facing blood cancer the emotional and practical support they need. Every day another 47 Australians are diagnosed with a blood cancer.
